Retirement Planner Calculator

A retirement planner calculator helps you estimate how much your savings may grow by retirement and what that future corpus may be worth after adjusting for inflation. It is designed for long-horizon planning rather than short-term investing.

What this retirement planner shows

The planner estimates the future retirement corpus from your starting amount, regular contributions, and assumed annual return.

It also shows an inflation-adjusted value so you can understand purchasing power rather than looking only at a nominal future amount.

Why inflation matters in retirement planning

A corpus that looks large in future money may have lower real buying power after many years of inflation.

That is why retirement planning should consider both investment growth and the effect of rising living costs.

Core Formula Used in Retirement Planning

The retirement projection uses the future value of current savings and recurring contributions. A separate inflation adjustment is then applied to estimate the real value of that future corpus.

Real Value = Future Corpus / (1 + inflation rate)^years

Where,

  • Future Corpus = projected retirement corpus before inflation adjustment
  • inflation rate = expected annual inflation in decimal form
  • years = years remaining until retirement

How the retirement planner works

  1. Project the current savings forward using the selected annual return.
  2. Add monthly contributions throughout the accumulation period.
  3. Generate the month-wise balance path until the retirement date.
  4. Adjust the projected final corpus for inflation to estimate real purchasing power.
  5. Show both nominal and inflation-adjusted retirement values.

Examples

Example 1: Planning for retirement in 25 years

Suppose you already have 500,000, add 15,000 every month, expect 10% annual return, and assume 5% inflation.

  • Current corpus = 500,000
  • Monthly contribution = 15,000
  • Annual return = 10%
  • Inflation = 5%
  • Retirement horizon = 25 years
  • The calculator shows both the projected future corpus and what that amount may mean in today's purchasing power.
